ABOUT THE FARM

McTavish Farms was established in 1974 by Brian and Betty McTavish, they began raising purebred cattle in 1989. Our operation consists of a Purebred Charolais, a commercial herd and a grain farm operation located 8 miles east of Moosomin and 2 ½ miles north of the #1 Highway. Today the cattle operation of 150 Charolais, and 125 commercial cows is managed by Jared and Heather and their family.

The Charolais cow herd is bred to calve January through to the middle of March. We raise and sell the bulls as yearlings from this operation. Our annual bull sale is held here at the farm every 4th Friday of March.

We also have a commercial cattle operation that consist of Red Angus based cows bred to Charolais bulls set to calve on grass April through May. This cross guarantees us a buckskin calf that is very easy to market.

Our focus is breeding for traits that work in the real world of beef production. We believe in functional cattle that are structurally sound, easy doing, easy calving and have the pay weight at weaning. Our Annual Bull Sale is held on the farm the 4th Friday of March. We take great pride in our operation. We are most pleased to show visitors around anytime.
